South Indian cuisine is known for its aroma, taste, and texture. The South states Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Telangana have their unique as well as own variants of common dishes with a native touch. Here are a few South Indian dishes that should be on your must-try list.

PESARATTU:

Pesarattu is also known as moong dosa. It is a crepe that is made from soaked from moong dal. It is one of the healthiest and tastiest breakfast options. This is usually served with a side of ginger and coconut chutney.

PAZHAM PORI:

Pazham Pori is usually ripe banana fritters. They are a renowned snack in Kerala, this is also known as Ethakka Appam. These are served in every restaurant, hotel, and even on roadside tea stalls.

KESARI BATH:

Kesari bath also known as Kesari is a sweet South Indian delicacy that is famous all over India. The prime ingredients used in making this dessert are Kesari rava, milk, jaggery, and ghee. Kesari bath is also known as Halwa in North India.


ADIRASAM:

Adirasam is an authentic sweet delicacy of Tamil Nadu. It is made from rice flour, jaggery, and ghee. Adirasam is usually prepared during festivals and special occasions.

AVIYAL:

Aviyal is one of the most popular dishes in Kerala. It is made with mixed boiled vegetables, coconut, and yogurt. This dish super delicious and nutritious, this is best served with roti and rice.

MANGO KUZHAMBU:

Mango kuzhambu is a delicious sweet recipe made with mangoes. This is popular in summers, mango kuzhambu is mostly consumed in parts of Tamil Nadu.

POTATO FRY:

Potato fry is very delicious and easy to make recipe, This is made from chopped boiled potatoes and some mix of spices. It is paired with hot rice, lemon rice, and chapati.

RASAM:

Rasam is an authentic soup gleaned from tomato, tamarind, pepper, cumin, and other spices. Rasam has a very distinct taste, with a tich of sweet, sour, and spicy mix. It is considered very healthy and also said to give relief from a cold and sore throat.

PUTTU AND KADALA:

Puttu is an exceptionally popular breakfast in Kerala. Puttu is made of rice, crafted into a cylindrical shape. Kadala is a curry made from black beans with a dash of coconut and ripe bananas. With a granular taste of puttu and quiche flavored kadala makes this favorite breakfast of not just Malayalis but also people from all over India.

PAYASAM:

There is no alternate dessert that could beat payasam among South Indian desserts. This authentic dessert is made from rice, milk, sugar, ghee, chopped dry fruits, and coconut flakes. However, the procedure may vary among the South states using the same ingredients.

LEMON RICE:

Lemon rice is one of the best traditional main course of South India. It brims a tangy flavor. This is made of rice, lemon, peanuts, chilies, and some other spices. This is prominently made on festivals and special occasions.
